Our rules are designed to eliminate stalling and reward the finish.

SUPERFIGHTS & EXHIBITIONS

Structure

  • Prelims: 2 x 5 min rounds (1 min break). Possible 3 min overtime if tied.
  • Main Card: 3 x 5 min rounds.
  • Scoring: 10-Point Must System (10-9 slight edge, 10-8 dominance). NO cumulative points.

Judging Priorities

REWARDED

Legitimate submission attempts, aggression, pace, positional advancement, risk-taking.

PENALISED

Stalling, backing up, leaving area, poor sportsmanship.

ANTI-STALLING MEASURES

The referee has wide discretion to reset positions if action stagnates. Stalling is treated as anti-brand behaviour.

Single Competitor Stalling
  1. Warning + Timer initiated
  2. Continued stalling: -1 Point deduction
  3. Repeated: Opponent awarded dominant position (Back/Side/Mount)
Both Stalling
  • 30s inactivity: Warning
  • Next 30s: Stand up (if on ground) or Combat Base reset (if standing)

GRAND PRIX FORMAT

Overview

  • Duration: 10 Minutes
  • Victory: Submission, Points, or Judges Decision
  • Referees: 1 Main + 2 Side Refs (Red/Blue wristbands). Side refs can overrule or award points.

Point System (1 Point Each)

  • Takedown (3s control)
  • Guard Pass
  • Back Control
  • Mount
  • Sweep

TEAM SQUADS

Format

Winner-Stays-On format comprising two 45-minute halves.

  • Team: 6 Athletes (3 x <80kg, 3 x <95kg) + Captain.
  • Submission: 2 Points (3 points if <80kg submits <95kg).
  • Decision: 1 Point (Dominant draws).
  • Draw: If scores tied, captains face off in 5 min superfight.

Activity Rules

The loser of a bout becomes "Inactive" and cannot compete again until the entire team has cycled through. Inactive competitors wear a mesh bib. Status resets at halftime.

Polaris Uprising

POLARIS UPRISING

The proving ground for future contenders. Slightly modified ruleset for developmental talent.

Format

  • Match Duration: 7 Minutes
  • Victory: Submission, Points, or Referee Decision
  • Scoring: 1 Point for major positions (Takedown, Pass, Back, Mount, Sweep)

Illegal Techniques

  • Blue Belt & Juvenile: No heel hooks, spinal locks, rotational foot locks, or neck cranks.
  • All Levels: No eye gouging, slams above 50cm, or windpipe grips.

LEGAL TECHNIQUES OVERVIEW

Unless specified (e.g. Gi or Uprising), Polaris is a professional ruleset allowing chokes, joint locks (shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle), and neck cranks (No-Gi only).

ILLEGAL: Slams to escape (above knee), Small Joint Manipulation, Fish Hooking
